Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, such as when you create an account, update your profile, or communicate with other users.

  • Profile information (name, email, bio, skills, interests)
  • Messages and communications with other users
  • Usage data and analytics to improve our service
  • Device information and IP addresses for security

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve our services.

  • Match you with compatible developers
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration
  • Send you notifications and updates
  • Improve our matching algorithm and user experience
  • Ensure platform security and prevent abuse

What Is Public

Some information can be seen by people who are not signed in, including search engines and AI assistants.

  • Shipyard projects are public by default: title, description, image, links, technologies, upvote and comment counts, and the author's name and role. You can hide any project from the public web in its settings.
  • Your builder profile is private by default. If you turn on Public profile (at sign-up or in Settings), your name, username, photo, headline, bio, skills, what you are looking for, country and the links you added become visible at shiptogether.dev/builders/your-username.
  • Never shown publicly: your email, age, gender, city, precise location, online status, messages, connections, payment details or account settings.
  • Only signed-in members can connect with you, message you, upvote or comment on projects, or contact a seller.
  • Turn public visibility off at any time in Settings. Pages are removed immediately; search engines may take a few days to drop cached copies.

Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

  • End-to-end encryption for sensitive communications
  • Regular security audits and updates
  • Secure data storage with industry-standard practices
  • Limited access to personal data by authorized personnel only

Your Rights

You have certain rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access and update your personal information
  • Delete your account and associated data
  • Control your privacy settings and notifications
  • Request a copy of your data
  • Opt out of certain communications
